Community leaders in Little Rock and Pine Bluff first began discussing the possibility of forming a new organization in October. They wanted to make sure that an organization was in place to ensure that strong, grassroots organizing work continued in Arkansas. On November 21, the group of leaders decided on a name and identified an incorporating board. Arkansas Community Organizations was officially incorporated on December 7, 2009.
